Quiz: How Much Do You Know About Best Robot Vacuum That Mops?
The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops
Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He evaluates and tests cleaning appliances. His main focus is mopping and robot vacuum combinations. Multitaskers are ideal for those looking to eliminate mopping from their to-do lists. Some of them have excellent mapping and obstacle avoidance. Others even wash and refill mopping pads themselves for a hands-free cleaning.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model to choose if you want an automatic vacuum cleaner that can also mop. It's smaller than the other options which makes it easier to maneuver into tight spaces or under furniture. It comes with a 220 degree Lidar that, combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, gives it some of my favorite navigation and avoidance capabilities I've seen in robot vacuums. It's got a battery of 4600mAh which can last up to 170 mins when mopping and sucking are set to standard mode. (It can run longer on turbo). robot vacuum best can even return to the dock to top up its battery halfway through an efficient.
It's fast and does an excellent job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums carpeted rooms quickly, and hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen and hallways in just one motion. Its suction motor of 8,000pa is quick at picking up dirt, crumbs, and pet hair. Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes into contact with rugs, and the dual side brushes help to tease out debris from corners.
The mopping performance, while still impressive, isn't as impressive. The mop's rotating mechanism spins fast and utilizes 2.2lbs to clean dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arm protrudes out a bit more than other robots. This is useful in difficult corners or on baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to scoop up larger debris like books and broken toys.
Another nice feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuums and mop I've tried. It is quieter and doesn't create as much noise when vacuuming or mopping. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it has to utilize a specific mopping solution and is sold separately. It is easy to set up, and it works well. However should you purchase this robot vacuum for mopping, you will need to pay attention to this.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from the majority of robot vacuums which mops in its class. It is a powerful machine for cleaning with a variety of features.
The device comes with a powerful and impressive cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map the house and locate furniture and other obstacles. It then uses this information to clean methodically and efficiently. This leads to a thorough, consistent clean that's also fairly fast.
In terms of mopping, Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads can reach an array of surfaces. This includes corners, baseboards and other difficult to reach areas. The side brush can be stretched to extend to the floor, close to walls and other fixtures. The mop pads are washable and dry to reduce odors and prevent buildup.
Another feature worth mentioning is the customization options that are available through apps. The Q Revo lets you alter the suction strength and select a back-and forth or slightly random pattern. You can also set the number of passes it should make, which will affect how quickly the device can traverse your home. You can also decide to disable the side brush to prevent damaging carpets and rugs.
This device is expensive but it comes with a lot of smart features. It's crucial to keep in mind that it has regular expenses in the form of mopping equipment and maintenance. For instance the brushroll should be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter should be cleaned after 150 hours, and the mop pads must be replaced every one to three months.
This robot vacuum mop has an excellent Amazon rating and comes with many physical automation features. The robot vacuum also comes with a power button which doubles as the 'Clean button' and a 'Home' button to send it home after cleaning. It also comes with a multi-functional dock that automatically emptys the trash bin, fills up its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a professional with a lot of work or someone who just wants a cleaner home without spending hours doing chores then the Shark Matrix Plus is a solid option. Its powerful performance, smart navigation and long battery life allow you to keep a clean home with little effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop which means it is able to handle both vacuuming and mopping. The robot is divided into two parts, a dry bin and water tank that can be snapped in and out and a mopping unit that includes an elastomer pad. It's not the most modern thing to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping however it does mean that you don't have to fret about changing disposable bags or refilling the tank of water.
The Matrix Plus performed well at vacuuming and mopping. Its most impressive feature is its accurate floorplan map, which it employs when cleaning. This made it easy for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture rug, furniture and other obstacles. The app allows you to create 'No-Go Zones' as well as virtual barriers to prevent certain areas from being cleaned by a mop.
We also noticed that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well at picking up hair of pets. It was able capture many of the hair that sheds from our cats. It even got into some of the corners and crevices of our stairs where other robots struggled. It was quiet and had some nice jingles that let you know when it was about to start or finishing its work.
Its biggest drawbacks were its lack of sophistication and the necessity to swap out the modules whenever switching between mopping and vacuuming. The app is not able to keep multiple maps. This can be an issue if your house has several floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those looking for a smart robot that is capable of mopping and vacuuming.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our review, but it also has distinct features that make it worth a look. The X1 Omni's main draw is its enormous dock, which serves as the robot's charging base and housing for two water tanks, a cleaning sink as well as a 2.5-liter dust bin that is automatically emptys.
The base also has a number of control buttons that allow you to manually start cleaning, recall the robot, or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Press two of the buttons to turn off the child lock that is a great touch for parents worried about their children playing with the vacuum.
Similar to other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni uses its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path, and then avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni can occasionally get caught up in an obstacle--such as a power cord draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you free it. While it was not common, it was a frustrating experience when it happened and especially because the X1 Omni doesn't have an "stuck" status alert in its application.
The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch from mopping mode to vacuuming mode during the cleaning process. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad, except that the mopping pad doesn't get cleaned or dried between use. This could lead to mildew and mold.
The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed its sleek modern base and mopping pad. It's a significant change from the utilitarian black bases of competitors like Roborock and iRobot and is a refreshing view in a market which is dominated by clunky boxy models.
